2003 Harley-Davidson Softail part 1

After years of silence I'm bringing this blog back to life and plan on sharing some great stuff with you  guys. I don't know how many of you are familiar with me, so here's a quick introduction. I'm from Estonia and study Crossmedia, I have a '65 Beetle that will be shared here soon and a 2003 Harley Softail, obviously. I also run one of the most popular bobber and chopper blog's on tumblr called www.fast-iron.tumblr.com

Enough of that, let's get to the build now. I got the bike in late fall, haven't actually had a chance to ride it yet because it's around -20 outside right now. Some of you may say that I'm stupid for not riding it first, but I don't really have any other option, I'm to tall for any other Harley model, so this has to do. This is going to be the first build for me that is chrome heavy, I'm kind of going for that 70s vibe with this, let's hope for the best.

As I mentioned before, the bike is a '03 Standard Softail. When I got it, it was completely stock, the only thing that had been changed was the seat, it was pretty ugly, trust me. I have obviously already removed the rear fender and all that stuff that was connected to it. The seat and original bars are also missing.

Here's a closer look at the new bars. They are made by Biltwell and the name for this style is Chumps. Second time using this style and I love them. You will be seeing a lot of Biltwell stuff on this bike, that's just because I really like their designs and quality. So if anyone from Biltwell is reading, hit me up, thanks.

New grips, made by Biltwell

New stainless risers, by Biltwell of course

Ordered a new fender too, made by Lowbrow Customs. It's a really tight fit, but the modern tires are going to be replaced by vintage style tires anyway, so it should be all good.

Just look at that rear

Can you guess who made the seat and the harlot pad

Harley Davidson Sportster "concept" bobber/café racer/brat

So, this being my first post here I think I should tell you what this blog is about. I run a motorcycle and hotrod dedicated blog on tumblr, click here to go there. I plan on posting here my idea and concept bikes, so if you like stuff like that, hang around.

I'm currently selling my Yamaha XVS650 Custom and I'd like to get a Sportster instead. BUT as you should know, older stock Sportsters look just horrid, the new ones are much nicer. The other day I got bored in class and I had my computer with me so I decided to make a "concept" bike for myself.

I started out with this BEAUTIFUL Sporty full of chrome, turn signals as big as apples and a handlebar so full of shit you couldn't figure out what does what. I hope I don't have to tell you what's wrong with the seat and the rear fender.

So, this one look's a bit more sportier and now actually justifies the Sportster's name. Both the tail section and the fairing are made out of the gas tank because I don'f have the skill yet to "build" parts from the ground up. The handlebars I just chopped up, made the seat  look actually nice and then I shortened the pipes.

This exactly the same as the second one, but without the fairing. I repositioned the headlight so it would look more "stealthy", it's not a big change but in my mind it changes a lot.
